DOes publisher communicates with Database ??

Hey,

As i can see from image attached , publisher is communicating with database. HOws that possible.

If i am not wrong , qlikview desktop communicated with database via edit script.

Please help.

Your rite, but publisher is used to schedule the task on Qvw file which in turn connects to DB.

QV desktop is used by designers and developers to create GUI.

QV publisher is use for reload pf doc define via connection strings in QVW files and distribution of documents,we can also define various rules.

It shows that it can load any kind of data  into a qvw file and reload and/or publish it.

Technically, neither Publisher not Desktop client directly communicates with the databases. It's the ODBC/ OLEDB/ JDBC drivers which communicate with the databases and fetch the data. Publisher is primarily used for distribution of QVW files. Databases talk to ODBC/OLEDB drivers, and they extract the data from the DB. And then QlikView Desktop or QVS will pick up the data and load into RAM.

The attached image is correct and it's just logical process flow of things work but that doesn't mean physical processing will be same.
