hi, novice question.
is it possible to link to a hosted data source and combine it with local data. i mean we have a HR and Payroll hosted system which we interact with via a web interface. some of our other data is stored locally on servers we control, some of our data is again on other hosted systems.
will qlikview be able to view all data sources, and if so how do we enable it to do that. do we need permission from our hosted services suppliers?
thanks
Yes it is possible to link combine any amount of data sources into QV within reason. To combine a data source you will need a primary key. So keep this in mind when putting data together from multiple sources. Look at link tables when doing this. Have an understanding of relational databases. Look at QVDs if you have lots of data.
QV can read in from an 'Internet File.' Take a look in Script> Data. You will see many options to connect to a 'data source'. It is up to your 3rd party hosted solution if they provide you with rights to access your data remotely not QV.
QV can access local or remote data and combine them in a 'central location'. If you can get to your data remotely QV can query/combine anything.
