Determining a chart type in an expression

I have a chart that has 2 different allowed types. I want to change an expression based on which one is currently selected.

Can I do this?

No, that's not possible. Perhaps you can use two charts instead and use a button to change between them, i.e. hiding one and showing the other and vice versa. See this discussion for an example.
