Difference between BI and MIS

If asked, how would you define the difference between a Business Intelligence software and a Management Information System?  QV clearly describes itself as a BI tool.  If you go to such a source as wikipedia to look up those terms, the two ideas seem to have a lot of overlap.  My assumption is that an MIS system encompasses the entire process of source systems creating a database and then feeding into various (mostly static) reporting systems.  A BI tool assumes first two steps are already existing, can handle reporting but really emphasizes the dynamic analytics and ad-hoc analysis.  So Qlikview is not an MIS system.  Is that correct terminology?

BI - is a set of theories, methodologies, architectures, and technologies that transform raw data into meaningful and useful information for business purposes.
