Hello All,
I am examining the behavior of expressions when they contain leading equal signs. In the attached example, the behavior seems clear enough.
Seems clear enough. However, I am now thinking back to examples where I saw variables fed into expressions in charts where there was no $() wrapping of the variable. I could've sworn I've seen examples where this was done in charts where there was a dimension. Except now I'm not so sure.
Does a variable without a leading '=' equal sign and not wrapped in $() work the same way in a chart expression as a variable that does not have these? Does it matter which type of chart the variable is being used in?
Has it always worked this way? Was there ever a time that QlikView could be fed a variable with a leading equal sign, not wrapped in dollar-sign expansion, and it produced a result per dimension?
Very interesting question. If I were you, I'd ask Henric Cronström to answer this.
This Blog post by Henric Cronström gives a very good explanation
