Doubt about Session Collaberation

Hey,

What is session collaberation in qlikview?

Does it allows unlicensed people to see the dashboard?

For example:

If 2 users A, B are there. User A has Names Cal and User B has no license.

Then if User A checks Session Collaberation then does user B also started seeing the same dashboard??

What is it's use ?

Thanks

It allows people to be shown a qvw dashboard whether or not the people being shown it have a licence or not.  The person sharing the dashboard needs licencing though.

It is very useful for demonstrations, training and support. I love it.

Collaboration is a feature of QlikView Server, so is not available to people who only have a Desktop licence.

When using collaboration someone with a user CAL on a QlikView server can share their session with a user that also has web access to that QlikView Server but does not have any kind of QlikView licence.  The shared session is only open for as long as the licensed host user is still active in their browser session.

The functionality is only available in the Ajax (Full Browser) version and needs to be enabled in the QMC, both at a server level and for each document you wish to collaborate on.

Hey ,

Thanks but what you mean by:  web access to that QlikView Server  ?

Does it means that accessing dashboard via URL ?

Do you mean to say that if user does not have any Qlikview server and desktop license still he/she can see the dashboard via web ?

Thanks

Yes, you can access dashboard via URL.

Yes, user cannot share session nor access the dashboard via web.

Client will not come into this scenario.

What is included?

A new collaboration object that allows users of a document to engage one another in discussions about QlikView documents or the content of QlikView documents. Users can raise notes about findings within a document, at an object level, and let others add their own commentary to the note. Users can create “snapshots” of their selections to allow other users to get back to the same place in the analysis when reviewing a note. Users can create notes and comments and participate in threaded discussions about QlikView objects. QlikView captures the state of the object (e.g., current selections) as well as who made each comment and when.

What Does This Feature Bring to QlikView?

When making decisions, teams of QlikView users can come to the right decision more quickly by sharing insights through notes and snapshots, directly in the context of QlikView objects or documents, and permitting others to comment on them. This new feature works with server based documents. Users now have the ability to engage others in conversations relating to what is being found in the data. More than simple help text or pointers, annotations allow users to engage in active discussions about the content of a particular entity and its meaning.
