I am new to QlikView. We have a QV-application deployed as a client/server environment. qvw is on the shared folder on the server. If a user tries to open a document, he gets an error message "failed to open document".
If the user starts the file over qvp:\\ it does work, after starting it over qvp:\\, the access through shared folder works as well. I want my users to access the qvw only by going to the share.
Anyone has any ideas how this can be solved? Any help is greatly appreciated
1. check your windows folder settings and make sure you have the proper persmissions to read and execute at least
2. make sure there are no errors, check your log files where they are reported. QT has an application that lets you see log files in QV. I think it is on the demos website.
3. check you windows event viewer to see if something is not proper, but i doubt you will find something there
4. make sure the folder is mounted on the QV Server as intended with no errors.
5. last, make sure QV Server is configured properly for use
are you able to list all documents on QV Server that are shared?
thanks for suggestions. but none of these worked. I have talked with support and got following explanation.
We have a small business server with 25 licenses. Apparently you are only allowed to access qvws by qvp:\\ protocoll with the client analyzer. Once you do this a file is replicated to the client. Afterwards you MAY open files directly (locally or mounted ones), however only for 14 days (for that time you are getting an Analyzer+ borrowed NAL). It seems what you can repeat the process as often as you want - quite confusing for me, and surely for my users.
The issue is that qvp:\\ is far worse from performance point of view (starting a file w. section access takes up to 55 seconds) and therefore I would prefer direct fiile access....
Is the statement I received from support correct? Is there a way to access qvws without going over qvp:\\ protocoll?
If that is the case that you have a SBE Server, then yes, you are limited in your capabilities, but I don't remember being limited to only qvp protocol.
The only difference is in licensing capabilities between SBE and EE.
Try reaching out to your QV contact who implemented it for you. He might knowbest. Hope this helps. I will look further as well because I might face this issue some day.
