Error contacting server message through ipad

Through ipad withqlikivew app I am trying to connect to access point :

http:\\servername\qlikivew  but getting an error message "error contacting server""

Can't I connect my server externally?

Do I nned to ALWAYS HAVE "VPN"to  the organization network.

Please suggest

Yes, you need to be in the same network as Qlikview Web server hosted.
