Export to Excel

When a user clicks on the XL button, the generated excel file does not contain the caption. How can I include caption? Would it also be possible to include the current selections box in the generated excel file?

set the option in:

settings->user prefrences->Export

That is for exporting the entire Qlickview object. This would mean that I can send this only to Qlickview users. I was referring to the XL option in which only the data, caption & current selection would go to a plan excel file.

Have you tried "User Preferences" --> Export --> Selection Stamps in Exports --> check "On BIFF Exports"?
