Export to excel changes the number to text

Hi ,

I am having issue when trying to export to excel. I have a dimension with the number format, but when exported to excel it changes to text. This problem occurs in QV 10 in both IE and AJAX and in QV 9 (Only in IE). It exports in the correct format when using QV 9 - Ajax. Anyone has encountered this issue. I am not interetsed in using a Macro, so I tried including Num('###') in the dimension (Text Format), but didn't have any effect. If anyone has a solution, please let me know.

Thanks.

I ran into this problem when I tried to apply conditional formatting on the expression (bold, red for bad). When I got rid of the conditional formatting the problem went away.

Maybe you are doing something similar?

Thanks Dave for the reply. The problem is in the dimension and I dont have any formatting..To my surprise, even if I pull the number column in the list box and export to excel, it changes into text format.

Hi

I have seen this problem when exporting from a chart that uses default expression format rather than number format and was an issue with some dynamically formatted tables. Formatting the expression by enclosing it with Num does not appear to work - the table exports as text regardless of what's in the cell. The only resolution that I am aware of is to apply a number format to the expression in the table itself, that way the table will export as numbers.

I have seen this problem when exporting from a QlikView table using the XL option in the top right of the Table Box.

To solve my issue, I changed the format of the problem column in the QlikView table to [Fixed to] using the following steps...

Table Box Properties

Number tab

Ticked Override Document Settings

Selected Fixed to

When I then exported table contents to Excel the problem was fixed.  I think by explicitly stating the format it is then handled during the exporting.

Hope this helps
