Exporting a dual value dimension in excel

I just noticed that the behavior of exporting a dual dimension is not consistent between a straight table and a pivot table. If you export a dual dimension from a pivot table you get the character representation. If you do the same from a straight table you get the numeric representation.

Based on the concept of "what you see is what you get" i would think this is a bug in a straight table.

Does anyone know if this is a confirmed bug....or a "feature"/

What version are you using? In the version 10.00.8715.5, I do not see this behavior. I have seen this problem before, but I can't remember what version I was using or if it was a pivot table or a straight table.

If you can't upgrade to v10 right now, then one workaround could be having the dimension be

=text(Date)

and sorting it by

=num(Date)

Regards.

Hi Karl,

I just attached a sample qlikview developed under 10.00.8715.5 that has this behavior.

Any thoughts you have would be great.

You are right, Greg, and I think you should talk to QlikView support to see what they think. In the meantime, I've attached the workaround. Look at the dimension tab and the sort tab.

Regards.
