Expression to select anything less than field

Can I write in an expression that selects anything less than the selected date?

So for example

DATE

1st Jan 2017

1st Feb 2017

1st Mar 2017

If I select 1st Mar 2017,

My expression will show data for any dates <= 1st Mar 2017. In this case, it will show 1st Jan 2017, 1st Feb 2017 and 1st Mar 2017.

Look for something like below. But below doesn't work.

Sum({[Date2]*$<BONDMASTER_INSTRUMENT = {'CD', 'CP'}, DATE ={"$(='(<='&[Date2]')')"}>} M_TP_NOMINAL * EXC_RATE)

You can do like below

Sum({<DATE = {"$('<=' & =Max(DATE))"}>}Measure)

Before develop something, think If placed (The Right information | To the right people | At the Right time | In the Right place | With the Right context)

Try this

Sum({<Date={"<= $(=max(date))"}>}Sales)

make sure date formats are matching.
