Fetching values from Island table

Hi All

Can anyone help me how to fetch the values from island table

TableA

  1. LOB_ID
  2. SHEET_ID
  3. DIV_ID
  4. LINE_NO
  5. PROJ_BAL

TableB

  1. iLOB_ID
  2. iSHEET_ID
  3. iDIV_ID
  4. iLINE_NO
  5. iOP_BAL

Req is

SHEET_ID    LOB_ID    LINE_NO   iOP_BAL   PROJ_BAL

How do I match columns (1,2, 3 & 4) from TableA with TableB and get iOP_BAL without join please ?

Thanks in advance

Here DIV_ID is list box, so result shoud be dynamic, if DIV_ID is not selected than Sum(iOP_BAL) for all DIV_ID, otherwise based on selected DIV_ID.

Again there is no join

Thanks again

Hi Satish,

What you want to do is have the tables 'associate' in the data model - rather than do a join.  The difference is that join's are enforced at load time whereas associations only come into play at the front end.  Simply rename the fields you want to associate so that they are exactly (including case) the same in both tables.

You can lookup values in the front end from non associated tables (this is often used for FX rates and Translations) but generally it is best to let the associations do the work for you.
