I'm not sure how I got stuck with this setting, but all of my applications now default to fuzzy search (~foo) rather than wildcard search (*foo*). I can't figure out how to have wildcard search be the default search method. It appears to be stored in the QlikView Desktop application and not the individual applications. It happens both in global search objects, as well as list box search buttons.
Has anybody else run into this?
Thanks,
Gary
I fixed this by modifying a registry entry. I'm still not sure how I caused it. And this doesn't seem like the proper solution. But here it is.
Open Regedit
HKEY_CURRENT_USER --> Software --> QlikTech --> QlikView --> Settings7 --> LastSearchWasFuzzy
I changed the value from 1 to 0, then restarted QV Desktop, and it was back to normal.
You'll kick yourself on this one.
The search method is designated by what you type into the search box, and yes by default it is a wildcard on first installing the program.
To change from wildcard to fuzzy and vice versa simply click in the search box, press backspace once then type either * or ~ as required.
QV will then remember (by storing the registry entry you found) what your last search method was and default to it until you repeate the rpocess to change it.
Easy when you know how 😉
Thanks Cowboy,
I am kicking myself (happens at least once a day). I also found this out: Settings --> User Preferences --> General --> Search Settings --> Preferred Search Mode allows you to change the default also. I picked "Use Normal Search" rather than "Use Previous".
