Get license from command-line

Hi

The textbook from QlikView Server Publisher training says that you can get a Named CAL license by calling QlikView from the command-line wiht the "/get license" option.  This gave an error when we tried it, and I can't find any mention of it on the forums or in the Reference Manual.  I would appreciate any example or link to any documentation for this option.

Thanks

Jeremy

I can't find that option in the QlikView 10 documentation. Are you trying to achieve something with this? or just testing that the manual is accurate?

Best way to get a license imo is to open a file in the server.

We are rolling out a reporting application in QlikView to field-based sales reps with limited connectivity.  Our standard is to push all reports out through device management, and not to require a connection to use them.  We can install the QV Desktop and push out the QVW, but they have to open a file from the server to get their license.

If the sales reps will be connecting to the server's network once in a while then you can have them open a file in the server to get a license. They will also have to connect at least every 30 days.

If they are not going to connect to the server's network then you should talk to you QlikView's partner/master reseller/qliktech contact about getting individual local client licenses instead of having or CALs assigned to your server.
