Granularity in qlikview

What is granularity ? I have been looking into datamodelling concepts where i am struck with granularity ?

How it can be defined ?

The detail of a transactional fact table. Best example for granularity is:

Year

Year-Month

Year-Month-Day <- this being the most granular.
