Help needed to send Email Alert on Job/task failure to an AD group`

Dear Friends,

we are trying to send e-mail alerts to an AD group on failure of a task.

The users/AD group is added as "Document Administrators" under General Tab of "distribution services". Alert Email is Enabled for the same.

The email alert is successfully sent for individual users, however it is not working when we configure them under an AD group.

We need to configure different recipients for different projects. Hence we are not using the "Alert-email" section of "distribution services".

Any help in this regard is much appreciated!

thanks for your help!

If you use Exchange or Office365 for email forwarding, I think you can create email distribution groups in parallel with regular security groups.

Thanks Peter.

I have tried that as well. But the DL created in Outlook is not found, when I tried to search in Qlik Server to add as doc administrator.

Am I missing Anything ?

Thank you.

I guess so.

AFAIK distribution groups cannot be used as security groups and security groups cannot be used as distribution groups.

[Edit] Changed "distribution lists" into "distribution groups". As far as I know, that's the correct terminology.

Did you create corresponding distribution groups?

Yes Peter.

I have created the distribution group. But I couldn't find it when I search in QMC.

Thanks.

Indeed, you cannot see them in the QMC because they are distribution groups, not security (or user-) groups.

Compare them to accounts and email addresses. Using the QMC Users tab, you can lookup accounts, but you cannot lookup email addresses. Using the QMC, you can assign CALs to accounts, but you cannot assign CALs to email addresses (or distribution groups for that matter).

However, now you can send messages to those distribution groups, just like you send a message to individual email addresses.

Hello,

Where do we setup Distribution List to send an email whena QVD fails . We have distribution list QVD Alert , we want to send alerts to the Business Users when there is any issue example : QVD thresholds not being met.

Also, Other than on QMC Tool, is there any server setting or anywhere that we can setup the alerts ?
