Help on replicating a chart from Tableau

Hi,

I am trying to replicate a tableau chart but not able to get the same result. Can you please help take a look and let me know what i am missing and how we can replicate the same chart in QV.

In the chart, I have Actual and year over year dual axis chart with three dimensions: Time, segments and flow. I have them in the dimension list for QV file also.

Please help take a look.

Regards,
Tina.

Hi - i think 2 trellis charts layered on top of each other  may give a dynamic version of this.

In the sample below your original, i trellised the first dimension . You would also need to do set analysis to filter to IB.

IB on the far left is just text in chart.

With this approach i wasn't able to conditionally hide the axes so they repeat ... not sure if that is a big issue.

Anyways it stated to look like the same quality ballpark with these updates.  (i also went with a dark background and white font)

Tina,

Could you please be more specific about where are you stucked? I mean, the values, the expressions, the line / bars, dimensions order...?

Marc.

Thanks that helps. Can you also send across the workbook that you developed.

Here it is. Note that i haven't done any work on the numbers, just the formatting... to make it wow like tableau

Hey!

QlikView does not support true dual-axis charts like Tableau, but you can replicate it using a combo chart. Here are some steps to consider:

  • Use a Combo Chart
  • Add two expressions for Actual and YoY. Also, customize colors, line width, and axis alignment under the Expressions tab
  • Align Axes
  • Ad Cyclic group if you want users to toggle between original and duplicate charts

If you’d like, I can help build you the exact chart replica and suggest data model tweaks for QlikView to better match Tableau interactivity.
