Help site for end users for a QlikView application

Hi Experts,

Ever thought of building a website for your QlikView applications and store web pages for each and every chart or or other objects, which an End user can access to find details of the charts, etc.?

What I would like to do is, somehow have a button on the objects (chart, textbox, etc.), just like the help button which is available to popup the help text, but when this button is pressed, it would call a URL dynnamically.

For example, if QlikView application name is "SalesInfo.QVW" and the Chart ID is "CH01", then it would call http://qvhelpserver/SalesInfo/CH01.htm. I know how to build the URL dynamically, but not sure if possible to put a button on every object.

Do you know any possibility of changing properties of Help button on the right top corner of objects to call this URL instead of showing help text popup? Using Macros? Or any other ideas?

Thanks

You could create a button with a plain background, 100% transparency and text of '?' set with a font colour of white then size and position it to sit on the object header (layer = top). It then looks like a standard icon and providing the object itself cant be moved/minimized etc this will give the effect you need.

Regards,

Gordon

Thanks Gordan.

But when I minimize the chart and bring up the other table or chart, the position of button will dis-locate. I was looking something which is embedded into the object itself.

Any other ideas out there?

I have the same requirement. We have a metadata server where the metrics and dimensions are described. Every description can be accessed via specific URL.

What I would ideally like to be able to do is to load those URLs as an attribute to all expressions and variables in Qlikview. They should appear as comments but be clickable.

Second best option - have a link for each chart as the OP just have stated.
