I need a little help. I am trying to get a sum of pubs by a publication for a set of years, then get the % of pubs per for the overall total
Year | Publicaion | Year Pubs | Totals Pubs | Year % |
---|---|---|---|---|
2000 | Times | 5 | ||
2001 | Times | 8 | ||
2002 | Times | 9 | ||
2003 | Times | 6 | ||
2004 | Times | 15 | ||
2005 | Times | 18 | ||
2006 | Times | 7 |
I am able to get the total pubs, but somtimes the total value for a given pub is not showing on every line. So each line should show 68 for the total amount of pubs. The year % for 2000 should be 5 / 68, 2001 should be 8 /68 and so on.
thanks for your assistance.
Hi Frank,
Have a look at the attached, think that is what you are after
hope that helps

Hi, Frank!
what chart type are you using? Is it a Pivot? or a Straight table?
Since you are able to get the total sums of pubs but not showing for every line seems you might not have expanded the pivot chart which i suspect u must be using? Then to have extra column u could create an expression using Sum(Amount of Pubs)/Sum(Total (Amount of Pubs)) and using the percentage check field in the number settings....
You might need to attach a sample file to enable forum users understand exactly what the challenge is....
I hope that helps....or sheds some light
Cheers

Joe
thanks. In your example I need to replace the [Year Pub] with a count( distinct id)
Joe
I changed to use the following:
Sum
(Total <Publicatopm>aggr(Count(DISTINCT ID),Publication))
and worked like a charm.. THanks for you yelp!
Joe
If I have multiple years in the chart and want a ranking by publication by year, how can I do that?
thanks
