Hierarchy / Calendar for quarter results

Hi expert, 

My data only have the snapshots for each quarter end e.g. 2017Q1, 2017Q2, 2017Q3 ...

I need to do some basic comparsion as quarter to quarter or year to year for specific month.

Should I build a hierarchy table or a calendar table for it?
Any tips?

I think Calendar Table is enough for this question. If you really need hierarchy - How this works?

As comparison of months do not go along with quarterly information.

I may need to do comparsion e.g. 2018Q1 Vs 2017Q1 between the YTQ_TOTAL_NOP figures for Bank under Company A 

or 2018Q2 vs 2018Q1 of CQ_TOTAL_NOP.

You can achieve this with calendar table and set analysis

So, better to add a date value on the fact table and then build a typical calendar table for use?
