How to built a report table depending on whether two periods overlap?

Hi,

I need to rebuilt a small reporting table from two small input tables based upon some rules.

One of the rules is that rows of the reported table depend on whether the requested timeperiod (a field in the report table) overlaps with a different time period defined in one of the input tables.

The problem is explained in more detail in the attached Qvw.

Background: I'm basically trying to reconstruct a table that comes as an output of a BO system.

P.S.: Any suggestions how to better formulate the problem?

You can use the intervalmatch function to match the dates to the periods. See attached qvw.
