How to compare value of current date with previous date

Dear All,

I need to compare the price of the current date with the previous date price.In my database i don't have dates in an order. i ll explain the scenario.

I have data like follows.

Purchase date  ItemID     Price

25-03-2011        AX124    7000

28-03-2011        AX124    10000

31-03-2011        AX124    9000

04-04-2011       AX124    12000

This s my scenario. now i need to compare the price of latest date, i mean 04-04-2011  with previous purchase date ( 31-03-2011 ).
