How to control multiple dates using common calendar (not linked to any dates) ?

Hi All,

I have 6-8 tables in my data model which consists of 8-10 dates spread across different tables.

I cannot link all the dates to the common calendar because it will create loops.

Also I cannot concatenate the data as there is a section of data which contains multiple dates.

For eg: Outstanding data has multiple 2-3 dates which needs to be considered.

i.e. a single row has 2-3 dates associated with it.

Even the link table will not work.

My query : can I control all the dates using common calendar (which will not be linked to any dates) and set analysis ?

I want to create a chart using common calendar dates(year, month) as a dimension and use two expression (sales amount using sell date) and (budget using budget date).

And the same numbers should be shown in text objects as YTD or MTD.

Can I do that ?

Thanks all in advance.

Regards,

Hi Sunny,

Thanks for the revert. I saw the blog that you suggested ( a bit tough to understand).

But if I understand it correctly, that canonical dates will work for one primary id (i.e. OrderID).

What if i have few other tables (for eg Customer table with CId with 1-2 dates, outstanding table with 2 dates and one more table with 2 more dates in it) ?

Thanks in advance.
