How to get sound when viewing online training modules

Hi all, I'm a Very Newbie and trying to get a kick start by going through the online training. However, the slides are fairly useless without narration. I've checked and my laptop does get sound from other sites. Any suggestions for what I'm doing wrong?

I had problems where the videos wouldn't load at all, while I was using Firefox. I tried IE9 and it worked better, but occasionally the video would play, the narrator would stop, and on a new slide everything would be back to normal

It's pretty weird. I don't think it's just a video in a flash player. Something is definitely off about those videos.
