How to obtain Licence Key

Hi,

A new user how access to our development server, when he opens Qlik View it is showing this as a Persal Edition licence, how do we get this as a fully licence product; I'm sure in the past we had to open a existing document within the server using the "Open In Server", but this does not seem to work?

In the QMC, go to the Licenses tab, and under that select "Client Access Licenses (CALs)". This tab will give you all the information about your server licenses. At the bottom of the page, the "Assigned Users" section will list everyone who has an assigned license, either by User Name or Machine Name, depending on how your server is set up. User or Machine license is selected at the top of the page. If you are using Machine Name licensing, in order to use QlikView Desktop on the server you will need to purchase a new Named User CAL for the server machine. If you are using User Name licensing, the person who wants to use Desktop will need to log onto the server under his own username, then use Open in Server or the Access Point to lease a license. Keep in mind that an instance of QlikView Server can run either Machine Name or User Name CALs, but not both.

Hope this helps,

Scott Moon

If the user has a Named User CAL assigned to them on the server, make sure you have "Allow license lease" checked in the CAL section of the Licenses tab in the QMC. If that is checked, when he uses "Open in Server" from QlikView or connects through the Access Point and open an application, the server will lease a full license to him. If there is no CAL assigned to him, you will have to purchase a Named User CAL to unlock his QlikView Desktop.

On his local drive he has Qlik View as a licence product, the reason why he needs to developed on the server because his laptop cannot cope with the memory. Where on the QMC does it show who has a licenced product to start developing?
