Hi All,
What's the best way of tracking table / QVD usage in Qlikview (v9) ?
With a mutli-tiered build of source tables, QVD building apps, QVD's and then more layers of QVW Dashboards (which themselves are storing data in QVD's) it's getting hard to keep track of which of these data sources are being used where.
I've attempted to mimic the views of data flow you get in data warehouse applications by reading the QVW.LOG files into a Qlikview app and parsing the text to pick out 'FROM' and 'STORE' statements to build a list of relationships between tables, qvd's and qvw's but this is vulnerable to the unstructured text - e.g. if someone has put a carriage return after the FROM it's hard to pick up the file name.
Has anyone used the v9 xml layouts produced by 'Export Document Layout' to do something similar ? - can this be automated ?,
Any suggestions would be helpful,
Regards,
HD
I am also interested in this question, though we are now on QV11.
I've never tried with QV9 but I know it works with 11. Is the attached qvw what you are looking for?
I'd recommend you use the Qlikview Governance dashboard
