Hi community,

I want to know how to use a QVW file in another QVW file?

And What might be the usefulness of this?

Thanks.

Try this

Binary "test.qvw";

Since the application "test.qvw" has all the programming done, and this has just this second line of script in his charge.

This can be a way to hide the code of an application.

Hi there,

The first question needs to be 'what is it you are trying to achieve'?

As already suggested the BINARY statement allows you to pull in the data from one QlikView file to another (this can be achieved by clicking on the 'QlikView File' button in the Load Script editor. This means that any load script translations you do for one document can be used in another - but I would recommend the use of QVD files for this purpose.

If you simply want to use some objects from one QlikView document in another you can just copy and paste objects between the documents - provided all data elements referenced in the objects exist in both documents.

Finally you can put links between two QlikView documents and seamlessly navigate between them. This allows you to have two separate data models and analyse them side by side. Whilst not strictly one document 'in another' it does give the impression of a single document to the end user.

Regards,
Steve
