Installation problem on Windows 7 (64bit, intel i7, brand new machine)

After the "Welcome to the QlikView Installtion Wizard" form,
raises Fatal Error: "Installation ended prematurely because of an error."

The same error, persist in all desktop versions from 8.00 to 9 (SR2)
(with or without firewall, antivirus)
Even with Windows compatibility mode: Windows XP (sp2)

I've already installed the vbscript.dll with regsvr32.exe:
"DllRegisterServer in c:\Windows\System\vbscript.dll succeded."

Okay, I managed to get it to work finally. I had to manually edit a registry key. Remember before you do this to create a restore point just in case something doesn't go right.

I discovered a previous installation of McAfee modified this key as a means to intercept script calls that might be trying to execute vbscript.dll. So, what I did was searched the registry for the key mentioned above, {B54F3741-5B07-11cf-A4B0-00AA004A55E8} and found the entry referring to the old McAfee program files path.

I modified that entry to read "C:\Windows\system32\vbscript.dll" instead. After doing that I registered the dll again just to be sure.

While referring to a different error, this article walks through this and shows how to gain ownership of the keys, etc, so you can make the modifications.

Hi, I currently have the same problem on a win 7 machine running 32bit. I have other software installing without issue.

I first tried to do the following

Issue Installation of QV on Vista results in "installation ended
prematurely"?

Description Go to:
Start Menu -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Right Click on Command
Prompt -> Run As Administrator.
Type cd C:\Windows\System32
Type regsvr32 vbscript.dll
Retry installation.

I then used the MS tool called Windows Install Clean Up without success

Then I cleared the registry of all references to QV and Qlik, deleted all folders that reference QlikView and still cant install.

My log looks similar to yours

So finally a question did you or anyone else have this as a problem and did you solve it?

Hi Gary and Andreas,

Last night I rebuilt my computer copied everything I wanted to keep off using Easy Transfer in Win 7, formated the C drive and started again. It didn't take long at all and QV server and Developer installed like a dream.

Did you have a version of QV on the machine previously?

Yes, tonight I manually uninstalled 9.0 SR2 and installed 9.0 SR3. Now neither SR2 nor SR3 will install at all. Same error. Something must have gotten corrupted when I uninstalled SR2.

hi , first of all excuse me for my bad English. I had the same problem and to be able installs Qlik View. I have resolved in this way:

fixing on Windows 7 64-bit

Open a command line window as Administrator, which requires clicking Start typing cmd in the

search box, then right-clicking on the cmd.exe program and choosing Run as Administrator. Next

paste the following in the command line and hit enter.

reg delete "HKCU\SOFTWARE\Classes\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{B54F3741-5B07-11CF-A4B0-

00AA004A55E8}" /f

That previous command removes the incorrect entry for VBScript support on 64-bit Windows 7. Next

you need to make sure VBScript is properly registered by typing:

c:\windows\syswow64\regsvr32 vbscript.dll

or simply regsvr32 vbscript.dll if you are already in the syswow64 directory.

After following these steps you should be able to install your program without issue.

fixing on Windows 7 32-bit

version of Windows 7.

Hello Marco.

I've got exactly the same problem, but the solution you provided has not worked for me. Do you have any other suggestions?

Regards,

Jean.
