Internet crash

Hi,

in my production environment we have several internet explorer crashes when we open the documents with the plugin.

After the crash internet explorer redirect to res://ieframe.dll/acr_depnx_error.htm#,about:blank

Sorry it is an Italian page, but it seems to be related to the data execution prevention:

What I have to check/do?

Thanks very much.

Make sure your Plugin version is the same QlikView version as the QlikView Server. Do you ever get crashes when using AJAX? If no, then double check that nothing is interfering with port 4747.

Hello Michele,

I suspect something is blocking port 4747, make sure all ports are open, may be try with by disabling firewall . You can check for network blocks through telnet command from the client to the server.

Could you also please ensure the version of IE and Plugin once.

Regards

Advait

Hi,

it seems there are no problem with AJAX, but telnet 4747 is ok(blank page).

Hi,

IE is 11, but my colleagues have different version. The plugin has the same version of the server.

Are you running 11.2 SR5? IE11 is supported only from that version and higher.

Hi,

yes, we have the 11.2 SR5. But we have the issue also for someone that has the IE9 or IE10.

Other info: the web server is IIS and there is a proxy but it allows localhost

Interesting; sounds like you'll need to enable extended error logging to see what exactly is going on here. Below are the instructions (make sure to have backups before proceeding):

Settings in QlikView 10 and above are stored in a settings.ini file.

  1. Close any running instances of QlikView Developer and QlikView Plugin
  2. Locate the file settings.ini
    • Windows XP / 2003: C:\Documents and Settings\<User>\Application Data\QlikTech\QlikView
    • Windows 7 / 2008: C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming\Qliktech\QlikView
  3. Edit settings.ini and In the section labeled [Settings 7] add the following line to turn the logging on:
    • ExtendedErrorLoggingMode=1
    • (To turn the logging off change it to: ExtendedErrorLoggingMode=0)
  4. Save the file
  5. Open a QlikView document hosted on a QlikView Server to generate the log file

The logfile created is called QlikViewError.log and can be found in the following location:

  • Windows XP / 2003: C:\Documents and Settings\<User>\My Documents
  • Windows 7 / 2008: C:\Users\<User>\Documents

Few things -

Does it happen every time you try to use the IE Plugin?

Does it happen with every document (QVW) when used with the IE Plugin?

When did it start?

Were there any changes to the system (upgrades, updates, policy changes, etc ...)?

Can you copy and paste the error so we can translate it? (There might be more information)
