Is there a quick way to create a column with random values?

Hello,

I have a requirment , where I want to create a column with dummy values inside it, I know its possible to do that , by entering values in excel..then left join..so on... but its very time consuming .

Any suggestions on how to go about..I want the values in rows for that mock column to contains random values....

1 as somename.,  /*** is one why, my req is random values***/

Have you tried the function rand()?
