Issue with single select Filters

Hi

Below is the attached sample data:

My requirement is to have Year and Month filters as single select.

Selection 1: year=2016 and Month=Jan

After I made selection 1, I am not able to change the month selection or the year selection. I belive the reason is because of how the data is assosiated. Is ther an alternate approach to have both filters as single select and also able to navigate easily?

May be have them in different alternate state (if you believe fixing the data model isn't an option)
