License lost

Hi Expert..

I have a problem, that i lost 2 license, because some partner remove qvw and this file has license assigned, of course lost the license, look like be assigned but it not.

the partner do not remember what is the name of the file that he remove,(if he remember i create a file and re assing)

if i clear the license and apply for the lincense could be a solution?

what do you recommend?

Thank you

Fernando

Hi,

just do a save as on any document and rename it to exacttly the same name as the removed file.

Or maybe you find the document in the orphan folder or in the botton of your documentlist with all upper case letter in the file name.

sorry, to fast answer, the other options then. Look in the qmc, user document and in the bottom maybe there is a file with only upper case letter. Or in the Orphan folder in the treeview.

Hi Fernando,

I presume that when you say licence is lost because QVW is deleted you mean Document CAL(s)?

If so, I have two suggestions:

  • Navigate to the Root Directory and see if you can see which documents there are that have Document CALs assigned to them.
  • If you can see your document name, create a QVW with the same name and remove the assigned licenses.

If you can't see find the file or the document names:

  • Stop the QV Services
  • Make a note of how many document CALs are assigned to which licenses
  • Remove caldata.pgo from both
    • "ProgramData\QlikTech\QlikViewServer"
    • and your "QV User Documents" folder
  • Start the QV Services

Hi, Fernando.

If you go into your QMC and go to Documents tab, are you seeing orphan qlikview apps at the bottom (they appear in upper case).

These are applications which have been deleted but still have Cals assigned to them.

If so, have a look at this blog to get rid of them:

HI Fernando

you can also look in your documents folders and see if you have .shared and .meta files that you don't have matching qvws for!
