Limiting Listbox on current Selection in same Listbox

Hey there,

I have got an issue with limiting / excluding listbox values:

My Listbox has the values A -  B  - C - D.

C shouldn't be selectable if one of the others is selected. So you can either chose A or B or C or D      or     (A and B), (A and D), (B and D), (A and B and D).

Can anyone help? I'm using QlikView 11 Personal Edition.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Select one value in that listbox, then go to the listbox properties, General tab and check "Always One Selected Value". That will do.

Hope that helps.

Hi Miguel,

thanks for your quick reply. With your solution I couldn't choose C and something else anymore, that's correct, but I couldn't choose A and B at the same time neither - or did I get it wrong?

Hi Corinna,

You got it right: that option does what the name implies, that is, that listbox will always have one and only one value selected.

If that's not what you were looking for, I'd create another field in the script instead that will have only the values you want the user to select, and use this field in the listbox. Or you can play with the field events in the Settings menu, Document Properties, Triggers tab, Field Event Triggers, On Select and On Change, and create an action Search in Field with an expression that controls what you want to do, so even when the users clicks on value "C", it first checks if this is compatible with the other values selected, then selects accordingly. However, this seems to me very difficult and cumbersome if you have many values or depending on the load, an undefined number of values in that listbox.

Hope that helps.

You should be able to select all of these four values, but not "C" in combination with an other one.

I will have a closer look on the Triggers Tab, I haven't worked with it yet. Thank you
