Due to performance issue, developers do not prefer to use Macros. Am i right? then what would be the alternate for this. And do we get any situations to use Macros compulsory. Please clarify.

usually the macros are bad, the link provided by tresesco is very helpful. most of the times you can find alternatives if it is not in qlikview then in external applications like NPrinting for example for report distribution.
If you have to perform some functionality like print sheet on ajax client( though print object is present) which is not present by default, then you have no option to use macro. Use only when no alternative left or to redefine functionality.
