Missing Image in Access Point Thumbnails

How does one go about displaying an image for a document in Access Point when the thumbnail option is selected?

go to settings->Document properties->opening tab, there is a "document thumbnail" section at the bottom of the dialog box

note that only documents saved with version 9 includes thumbnails
