Hi All,
Recently we are introducing qlikview to my existed client.
Previously we use BO (Business Objects).
We had a problem with Naming Conventions in Qlikview
1. Can we call the single QVW application as DASHBOARD ?
2. Or can only we call the front end design as DASHBOARD?
3. Does DASHBOARD is a collection of SHEETS or Can we call SHEETS as SUB DASHBOARDS
4. What exactly report, Can we call each object as a Report or Each SHEET is treated as a single report (Some times Single sheet contains many objects like Straight table, Pivot Table, Bar, Pie Charts)
5. Is there any naming conventions different in ACCESS POINT view and DEVELOPER view
Please help me
Regards,
AR UMAMAHESH
You can name applications, sheets and charts whatever you like. I recommend you give your qlikview documents meaningful names instead of DASHBOARD. A name like Sales Analysis Dashboard probably informs users a lot better than DASHBOARD. The same applies to sheet names.
yes its good using qlikview.
just reffer below docs.
by that u willll get basic idea what it is ? and how it is?
Dear AR,
QVW stands for QlikView Worksheet.
--
Q1. Can we call the single QVW application as DASHBOARD ?
Ans. Yes, you can say Dashboard to QVW application.
Q2. Or can only we call the front end design as DASHBOARD?
Ans. Front End Design is nothing if you have not extracted/transformed data to meet the user requirements or fulfill the KPIs.
3. Does DASHBOARD is a collection of SHEETS or Can we call SHEETS as SUB DASHBOARDS?
Ans. Dashboard can be the combination of multiple sheets and multiple objects.
Q4. What exactly report, Can we call each object as a Report or Each SHEET is treated as a single report (Some times Single sheet contains many objects like Straight table, Pivot Table, Bar, Pie Charts).
Ans. You can't say report to each object. Yes, you can say report to PDF Report when Dashboard sheet is published/exported by nPrinting software or by QlikView Printing option. However, some users also tell report to individual sheet.
Q5. Is there any naming conventions different in ACCESS POINT view and DEVELOPER view
Ans. QlikView does not restrict to any one regarding naming conventions but It's good to use naming convention for future work. Naming convention provides flexibility between developers and business users.
For example:
a. QlikView Document / Project Name / Dashboard name should be like this: Asset Management
b. Sheet Name should be start with prefix SH.
c. Variable Name should be start with prefix v.
For more QlikView Document Naming Convention, please visit Qlik Demos: See QlikView in Action | Demo.Qlik.Com
Kind regards,
Ishfaque Ahmed
1. Can we call the single QVW application as DASHBOARD ? --No,we can call as qv document or application and one application is a combination of multiple(may or maynot) dashboards/reports.
2. Or can only we call the front end design as DASHBOARD? No,if u r displaying one simple report that call as report but a report with combination of multiple options like(able to change either x-axis,y-axis1 or y-axis2..ect) called as dashboard.
3. Does DASHBOARD is a collection of SHEETS -- No,
or Can we call SHEETS as SUB DASHBOARDS--no
4. What exactly report, Can we call each object as a Report or Each SHEET is treated as a single report (Some times Single sheet contains many objects like Straight table, Pivot Table, Bar, Pie Charts)--here we can say a sheet is having only one of these "Straight table, Pivot Table, Bar, Pie Charts" as report. if it's combination then we can it's dashboard.
5. Is there any naming conventions different in ACCESS POINT view and DEVELOPER view-- No.

Hi,
In each organization they may have different terminology.
Please find below which we follow
In Access Point:
Application (QVW): This will treat as Dashboard.
Sheets: Sub Dashboards
Details reports( Table box, Straight Table, Pivot Table)
Charts (Some times users call charts as Dashboards)
You can consider QDF also , This would be really helpful.
Thank you guys
