Non-Linear gradient chart backgrouns

I want to have a dynamic chart background with images like the one below, but the gradient will slowly change as selections change.  Right now I'm creating images then referencing them dynamically, but I'd like to have the gradients automatically generate via a calculated function.  Is this possible?
