Hi all -
We are about to deploy an app and need to know how notes and bookmarks are dealt with in terms of separating them from being viewed by other users. Are they viewable by QVW? By user? By a set user group? How does this functionality get shared?
follow this thread
Hi Marco,
QVW Document - under Bookmark tab - click on ADD bookmark option - dialog box popups - share bookmark with other users checkbox is present.
Marking this check box will immediately shares thebookmark for use by other authenticated users of the same server document.
Hope this is what you are looking for.
Hi Nitha -
Ok, so all users of the QVW will have access to the bookmark, not just a single user (as defined by a username or email address or something)? What about notes?
Notes
you can choose between
- you
- all people
- list of people
Bookmark: when you create in server, if I remember you can choose between
- you
- all people can use your bookmark (shared)
So if I had my clients divided by company and they wanted to share within their employees, but keep their bookmarks separated from other companies that might use our app, we would need separate QVW's for each group of users?
I checked on a Qlik server
and in Ajax
- click on repository button
- select a bookmark
- click properties
Qlik opens a popup where you can choose to share the bookmark (flag "Condivisi oggetto")
with all users ("Condivii con tutti") or with the users you want ("Condividi per Nome Utente" domain\userid)
Sorry for the language, the server is for Italian users
Massimo - this is very helpful. So if we wanted to make sure bookmarks were never shared outside of a group of users (a company, for instance), the safest way to do that would be to have them run entirely separate copies of the same QVW, correct?
Users can see all data (all companies) in different ways: using bookmarks or removing all filters or etc......
If you want 1 QVW, you can use section access to filter data by company; I suppose (check it) in this way bookmarks can be shared between users of different company but as section access restricts access to data if user of company A clicks on a bookmark of company B he doesn't get any data
If you prefere your users don't share bookmarks better to have different QVW (using publisher)
Massimo - the issue would not be rooted in who gets to see what data (because we would allow all users of all companies to see all the data) but what happened if one user saw another company's bookmark titled something like "COMPANY XYZ Market Opportunities." That would cause a problem for us, so we want to make sure that users cannot even see bookmark titles.
