If you are publishing a dashboard that reads data via ODBC and it is published successfully it will work for all users.

However your question is a little vague.

For example if you were passing around the QVW to multiple developers and they try to reload will it work for all of them?  It depends.

Does the ODBC connection specify a username and password - if so then probably yes as long as they each setup th ODBC connection.*

Does the ODBC connection use Integrated Windows Authentication?  If so then each developer would need to have access to the SQL Server.

There are other reasons why the ODBC with a username and password specified would not work for all developers - a little more technical on the SQL side:

  • there could be a difference in the drivers the developers are using - odbc.png
  • I have 3 drivers available SQL Server is an older driver that may not support all features in newer versions of SQL Server.
  • I have also found that sometimes I can get a protocol error in TDS Stream error message if using the SQL Server drier.  I use the SQL Server Native Client 11.

Not everyone will have more than 1 driver installed.

Hi Anderson,

while creating ODBC connection there are 2 type of Authentications available .

  • Windows authentication
  • Sql server authentication

If you use Windows authentication the you can use for 'N' No.of users also

else

you need to share credentials to them

Rama,

Yes but only applicable if he is sharing a QVW that needs to be reloaded.  If it is published on the server then only 1 account needs permission on the SQL Server and that's the service account QlikView is using in that environment unless you are doing SQL Server authentication.

Villyee's question was vague so we don't know for sure what he needs.
