Object size - Sheet vs Report object size and Printed font size not correct

Hi everyone,

I would appreciate any assistance wrt the following problems with the Qliview report creation tool. The problem consists of two issues: (a) screen/sheet size versus report size and (b) resultant compression of objects on printed report.

Background

I have an object (straight table chart) on a sheet and it's dimensions are 559 wide by 137 high. When I print the sheet (via File menu) then the object is displayed correctly.

When I insert the object into a report then the size is automatically changed from 559x137 to 768x129 but neither of these sizes print the object correctly (as displayed on the sheet).

Problems

I have enabled the object border in Item Settings on the Report in order to see what is happening. The following problems occur:

1. If I print the object at either 559x137 or 768x129 then the full width is used but available height is not used and there is blank space within the border.

2. In either case the object font size does not agree to the original used on the sheet i.e. the sheet object uses Arial size 8 font. If I print the same text, using Excel and Arial size 8 font, then the printed Qlikview text and Excel text sizes are different. I worked out the Qlikview/Excel ratio (width of text on Qlikview print versus width of the same text in Excel print) and applied this to the Report object and this almost agrees.

I assume that there is a difference between the screen/sheet resolution & ratio versus the ratio that is used for a report. I know that I can manually resize and apply the ratio that I calculated but this will be extremely time consuming as it is a 6 page report with a large number of objects per page.

Additional Question

1. Does anyone know of any alternative tools to the Qlikview Report creation tool?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Craig
