Open in server from Desktop

We can successfully open in server using the desktop software on the server machine by putting in the qvp://servername address.

I cannot find any documentation anywhere suggesting what needs to be specified to created a DNS entry associated with qvp://servername.  Any suggestions?  I want to be able to open in server from my local machine desktop copy.

In principle it should be sufficient to use a fully qualified domain name or valid IP of your server (instead of servername, which uses WINS), like

qvp://10.10.0.1

or

qvp://qvserver.example.com

(Both are just samples).

Of course your desktop computer must be able to connect / route to your server and the appropriate ports need to be open:
