Open in server issue

Hi Everyone!

I've been having an issue recently regarding leasing a license from my server. I am able to connect but I can't open any documents even though I see the server:

If I add the document at the end of the URL (\example.qvw) it gives me this error:

I made sure the username I use to login has access to this documents (and all documents), and I can access these documents through the QlikView access point but not through the "open in server". I recently switched some drives around (moved all my documents from D:\ to C:\, but I don't see how this would affect this.

EDIT:

Okay, I got on a call with a Qlik Consultant and we were able to get somewhere. I moved a test document back to the D drive and it suddenly let me connect again. I moved a document to the C drive root and it worked as well. The problem is that it does not work as soon as I put it in a folder within in the C drive (In this case it's C:\D\etc\...) If it's C:\etc it's fine, if it's C:\D\etc it doesn't work. I believe it may be a windows permissions thing. I tried to give access to all users it it seemed to have taken but it still won't let me into the folder through the server lease.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

Joe

Hi Joe,

1) Are you sure, you have connected with server? Because once it is connected it will show the license details i.e you have leased license with abc server.

2) In your screenshot, the dialog box shows you are using personal edition that means ur not connected with the server.

3) Try to create some test application in ur server and copy that application into ur desktop and try to open it

It doesn't throw an error when I use an alternate ID with my username and password. It connects and then cuts to that icon.

Well, that's exactly the idea. If you present yourself to QVS with whatever valid Windows AD account, the server will try to assemble a list of documents that are available to you. This list can be empty, if you don't have a license or you don't have access to any document.

In that case the directory list will only show the server icon, and no directories at all because there aren't any documents returned from the check for available documents. Compare this to an empty AccessPoint.

Why you are seeing documents in the AP and not a single document in the Open in Server dialog can be because of one or more of multiple reasons. For example, is the hostname in the qvp:// url the same as in your browser?

If you have access to the server logs, check the Events log file of the QVS service (not the WIndows Events log).

Best,

Peter

Hi,

You don't have access to the documents in the server. might be section access application so you are getting failed to Open the document error.

check for some default apps in the server to lease the license.
