Overlap Bars on a chart

Hi I'm trying to force bars on a chart to overlap.  This requires the front bar to be thinner that theone behind.

This is what I have so far but can't get the bars to overlap fully.

This is what I was hoping for.

What do you think to use 3d graph by setting the transparency color? There will be various widths but both (red and blue) bars are visible.
Another idea is to use the post for the first expression and the symbol for the other.
I know this is not exactly what you expect and the only workaround ...
