I created a report with five pages and two graph by page (using QV 8.5).
I exported to PDF using QlikviewPDFWriter. The size of generated file is 973 Kb, but when I lauch Adobe Acrobat to view it, ram memory goes to 100 MB and cpu to 45%. If I try to view the page two or three, ram grows up to 300+ MB!
Why?
we use the Adobe Acrobat to generate the pdfs and the users use acrobat reader to view them. you can find more information in adobe web site.
acrobat reader is freeware, but Adobe Acrobat Standard or Pro aren't, you should buy them.
Have you tried to open the PDF-file with an alternative reader, e. g. Foxit Reader, to be sure that it's not a reader specific problem?

Yes, I tried with PDF XChange Viewer, too. Similar behavior
Hm, strange...
I experimented a little with the PDF-Writer but could not reproduce the phenomenon.
I assume you already have restarted your machine and could reproduce the behavior after reboot. Have you checked in the task manager if it is the AcroRead32.exe (or whatsoever) process which is consuming that much memory / CPU ?
Rgds,
Joachim
Hi Joachim.
My answer is yes, I reboot and I tried in another laptop. The process which is consuming memory is the pdf viewer (e.g. AcroRead32.exe).
If I check "Bypass Postscripts" in Configuration > Print, consume is lower (150 MB) but quality is poor.
Thanks in advance, Sebastian.
To be honest: I have no more ideas ... You could try to copy the qvw and try the same procedure with the copied qvw. You could try to remove one object after the other from the report and export pdf .... perhaps it's only one object which causes the issue ... Actually if that doesn't work I would give it to the support.
Rgds,
Joachim
We had the same problem.
Finally we solved it using a different pdf creator.
We tested several programs, at the end we bought a professional pdf creator.
Maverik, can you tell me what PDF creator you bought?
yes, we tested several freeware and shareware soluttions, but with all of them we obteined the same problem.
then I installed the Adobe Acrobat, and then problem was solved.
Do you use Adobe Acrobat to create the pdf or only to view it?
Because I use Qlikview PDFWriter (official app) to generate pdf and Acrobat 8 to view it.
