I am new to QlikView and I have been tasked with a project to design and develop an automated reporting tool capable of data extraction, analysis and subsequent distribution.
Going through some of the videos and reviews, I believe QlikView is what I need to develop this application or tool to meet my project requirements.
I will like to find out if watching and practicing with the several tutorials and videos will be enough for me to at least develop this tool as trial or is it imperative for me to attend a paid QlikView training( most of which are on the high side) on using QlikView especially to develop an application.There is no additional funding to support this type of training.
Download and install the application - it is Personal Edition since you don't have a license - and try, See what you can and cannot do, it will give a better idea if you need formal training or not.
I feel that when I started I learned a lot of things through training, but after spending some time with the tool is when I learned the most (Learning by doing). So I guess if you can somehow ask somebody or train yourself the basics, you will be better off practicing on your own. And you always have to community to support you in cases where you have any trouble.
