Performance ODBC with Sybase IQ

Has anyone experience with Sybase IQ 16.0 SP3 in combination with QlikView 11 sr3?

We are experiencing that connecting through ODBC to SQL is faster than Sybase IQ.  Were a bit lost about how to speed things up. Sybase IQ is working like a charm regarding direct SQL, but bulk loading is (SELECT * etc) is killing.

Has anyone suggestions how to speed things up?

Regards,

Martijn

  • IQ -> QlikView 100mln rows:      48 minutes
  • SQL -> QlikView 100mln rows:    30 Minutes

Direct discovery works like a charm on Sybase IQ. But for us, Direct discovery is not the solution, because we have to rebuild our current dashboard and have to investigate how to work around the SET Analysis not being available.

We’ve tried several things, but were stuck. Does anyone have similar experiences with Sybase IQ and ODBC?

What times do you have for the same queries, but sent from native cilents of those DB's?

Native is not the problem. The results are shown within seconds... It's the ODBC that is the bottleneck.

Some background information: We're on a Proof of Concept with Sybase IQ. This is a really fast solution for our datawarehouse (realtime). Our current datawarehouse database platform is SQL Server. If we want to use our current Qlikview dashboards we will downgrade in performance regarding the data extraction. The 100 mljn rows is an example for 1 year…

I know that Sybase IQ is very fast.

Did you try via ODBC but without network (from the same machine)?

Yes, we've tried that. Everything on the machine to exclude network issues.

Heb je de server al eens een keer opnieuw opgestart?

Hello Martijn/Darek,

Martijn- Could you please tell me what OS that machine is having (XP, Windows 7)? I am looking for Sybase ODBC drivers for Version 10 and 11.

Regards

Advait
