I've just downloaded and installed QV10 Personal Edition, and is now starting to create my first reports, but immediately ran into problem.
I create a new QV document to import i.e excel data to show in a graph, and then save the QVW file.
I close QV, and then open it again and try to load the QVW file, but that always fails with the following error message:
"The QlikView document was created by another QlikView Personal Edition user. ..."
I've tried several times to create different QV documents, importing data from various sources, but every time I save them and try to open again, the above error message appears.
Very strange!
Have you installed any previous version of QlikView in your machine (licenced or not)? Try to uninstall the older QV before installing qv10
Did you imported a QVW created on another machine? Sorry, you lost the documents created before import that QVW. When you install QV it creates a KEY that signs all files created with it. When you import another file, the key changes, and older documents fails to open.
Hope it gives an idea of whats wrong.
Regards,
Fernando
No, this is a fresh install of QV, have not tried it before.
Before I started to try it out by myself, I did download one sample QVW (Stocks.qvw) and opened it, and that works (just verified, yes I can still open that one).
But... I can create new QVWs, but after saving them, I cannot open them...
What version of Windows are you using.
I used windows XP, Vista 32 and 64 bits and windows 7 64bits. Never see this kind of problem.
Try opening and "saving as" stock2.qvw. See if the copy opens and what happens then when creating new files..

Fernando
using XP sp3.
Could open stock.qvw -> save as stock2.qvw -> close down QV -> open stock2.qvw, worked just fine
But tried to create a new document from scratch -> save -> reopen, but the problem still persists...
Will reinstalling QV10 PE help? Or are there some hidden files or registry entries that will prevent it from reinstalling as a fresh install?
Try reinstalling, but uninstal the older first.
See if you are using 64bits version for windows 64 or 32 version for win32
i've also encountered the same problem after installing to a 32bit Win7 machine. I had a licensed version of QV10 and QV9 SR5 installed. I removed the licence information from QV9 and restarted the app. Created a test application by nothing more than creating a new application and saving it. I then closed the application and re-started it before trying to re-open the test application i had created. At that point i encountered the error where i was told the application was created by another personal edition install.
I upgraded to QV9 SR6 but still the same. I removed QV10 but still the same ( i also cleared the licence info on this install to see if it does the same - it did!)
I then tried a Win Vista Laptop that i use separately for work running SR4 - after i removed the licence info on that and created a test app i was able to re-open the app without getting the 'created by another Personal Edition' error. Just about to see if it does the same once i upgrade my laptop to SR6! Either way i'm now confused as to what the issue is - possible Win 7 32 bit, anyway does anyone have any idea what this issue may be caused by or at least what QlikView is doing when it validates the Personal Edition license details on your PC?
(edit - Put SR6 on my work laptop tried the same and it worked fine!)
