Just a quick one ladies and gents...
I use 4-5 Pie Charts on one of my reports however when I filter (Date, Business Unit ect...) the values of the chart change and the Pie becomes too large for the border and you can't see the values/percentages. I am careful not to say values smaller/larger because it almost seems random to which size the Pie will become. I have deselected 'Size with data' because I want them to stay a standard size... yet they have a mind of their own.
Any idea?
Hi Kiera,
You can do this thing u can select two different types of chart in Fast change , 1. Bar chart & 2. Pie. Now Select ok. Go to the Chart change the chart to Bar Chart using the Fast Change Button. Press Ctrl+Shift & you will see some red Borders around the Bar Chart. Now u can drag the red lines & can make the chart of whatever area u want. Now again change the chart to pie chart & see it's working properly. After that if u want u can remove the fast change .

Amar
Still having this issue.
Is this a problem with 8.5 or a User-Error...
Hmm... hard to say as no sample is uploaded. I know some adjustments were made in version 9 regarding how some charts are displayed. Also, I hardly use pie charts at all as I think bar charts display the data much better.
I agree with you regarding Bar vs. Pie Chart... But unfortunately when the CEO says he wants Pies, then you know what he is going to get...
Yes I know. I have always wonder what's the magic with pie charts that makes top management so happy...
Because they are so pretty 😄
On a more serious note, I tried to make a sample to show you what I mean but it worked perfectly... yet I still have the problem with my real report... So I have some playing around to do to figure this out... Perhaps because we are displaying the Business Groups as Text on the Data Point rather than using a Legend.
Well at least I have something to keep me occupied today 🙂
Here try this - It replicates the problem I have in the main report, but not as severe.
Filter the chart by clicking the Red section. You will notice the Pie becomes larger and then pushes the tags on the data points beyond the border.
Now I copy and pasted the graph and used a different expression to select different data. As you can see the pies are not the same size... I have no idea why. Now this is very noticable when I have 4-5 charts on a page. Even when you filter on the second graph the two charts have different sizes. It's so frustrating...

Amar you champion!
Whilst this isn't a 100% fix it is all I needed to prevent the tags on the data points going outside of the chart borders!
Thank you again!
