Pivot or Straight Table performance

Hello experts, first post here.  We just became a Qlikview customer, and working hard to release our first corporate dashboard.

Unfortunately, we ran into an issue and can't seem to solve it.

Some background info:  we are running in a VM, with 16Gb of ram and decent CPU power.  Our QVW is about 20MB.  It contains roughly 360K rows.  In addition to charts, which work fine, we need to give our users a table (pivot table) view of data.  When we create a table in the desktop mode, it is fine: fast, scrolling through rows or columns is a breeze.  The second we view the document via the web (access point, or web view on the client), the performance is lagging, scrolling is choppy, and if you move the scroll cursor down, you have to wait a second before data comes up.  This performance is somewhat unacceptable.

Another finding, is that if we view the data via IE Plugin through the server (via web), the performance is acceptable and is very fast.

Have you encountered this kind of a problem?

Thanks!
Igor.

Igor,

yes, this is quite possible. While AJAX client is the fastest growing client, sometimes it can get "stuck" on certain issues, like in your case - rendering a large Pivot Table. You may have to settle on the IE Plugin...

cheers,

Oleg

Hi Oleg, thank you for your response.  I was afraid someone was going to say that!

What bugs me a little about qlikview is that there is no intuitive and easy way then to set the default preferred client based on the browser used.  The problem is that if you have IE Plugin by default, and open the document in Safari, the link to the file (or the thumbnail) are not clickable.  User has to click on the plus sign and then explicitly choose Ajax link to open the document.
